Vicky Kaushal was born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He went to Sheth Chunilal Damodardas Barfivala High School in Mumbai and graduated from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunications in Mumbai. Back in his childhood, he enjoyed studying, watching films, and playing cricket. As a film actor, Kaushal appeared in Kashyap’s productions Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012) and Bombay Velvet (2015), as well as in Geek Out (2013), a short film.

His first leading role came in the film Masaan (2015), directed by Neeraj Ghaywan.

Kushal starred as a military officer in A Dhar’s action film about the 2016 Uri terrorist attack, Uri: The Surgical Strike, in 2019, which was filmed in Serbia and directed by Aditya Dhar. As part of his preparation, he gained muscle weight, followed a ketogenic diet, and engaged in five months of martial arts training. While filming a scene, he injured his arm.
