Sana Makbul began her career as a model and later she started working in different commercials and TV shows.
In 2009, She appeared in the reality TV show known as MTV Scooty Teen Diva. She further played role of Sara in Disney Channel India’s musical series Ishaan: Sapno Ko Awaaz De. She has done excellent performance in the various Indian TV series such as Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Lavanya Kashyap in the serial Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and Riya Mukherjee in the criminal investigation series Arjun.
In 2014, She made her debut in the film industry after playing the role of Samhitha in the all-time popular romantic-comedy Telugu movie Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya. She has also appeared in the crime-thriller Telugu movie Rangoon directed by Rajkumar Periasamy.
